| The Evolution of the CD Player |
|
|
I was not tempted to rush right out and purchase a CD player when it
first became popular. I was hesitant to do so because I was used to
listening to cassette tapes.
I changed my mind when I began
listening to a local band that I really liked. However, their music was
only available on CD. I decided at that point that it was time to go
out and buy something that could play both a CD and an audiotape.
The cost of a CD player was rather high back then. I had to spend more than a hundred dollars on something that would play both formats, even though it wasn’t even a very good brand.
However, that was all that I could afford because my budget was so limited back then. I could only hear my favorite band’s music through a CD player so I was forced to spend a large a mount of money.
A good CD player would now cost about ten or fifteen dollars if you get the portable variety. A unit for your entertainment center would cost a bit more. This technology has become very inexpensive these days.
Anyway, this is what usually happens with everything. We also used to spend a lot of money to get a microwave oven, but a decent model can now sell for less than fifty dollars.
Do you have a CD player? These days you may not even need to buy one. You see, you already have a CD player if your computer has a CD drive. The only problem is that you are using up a lot of resources when you play a CD on your computer.
Additionally, you may find that your system will be paralyzed when you play a CD. This usually happens if your computer is an older model. You can get more memory, or you can update by getting a newer, faster computer to remedy this problem.
You can also get the portable kind and hook it up through your sound system if you don’t want to spend a lot of money on a CD player for your entertainment center. It is not difficult to do and you will save a lot of money.
This is a good idea because you never know when a newer technology will take over completely and you have no choice but to buy something else.
