Working with Amateur Radio Equipment |
|
|
The careers of some of the original electronic gurus started with an
amateur radio equipment that is known as ham radio. These were homemade
radios that had to be constructed from scratch. Ham radios educated
them about the inner workings of the numerous parts within the amateur
radio equipment. Many have used it as a means of starting their careers
in electronics and this has been reflected in their technical expertise
in the radios.
Since the FCC has strict regulations on radios, most of the modern radios that are used by amateurs are usually a mix of various items. There are companies that offer amateur radio equipment that can be shipped to the United States.
They offer a means of having a radio setup that can have a short reach, and gives individuals some valuable experience. Some places will offer amateur radio equipment as a means to learn the inner workings of the radio transmitting so that people can eventually become more involved in the radio industry in the future.
There are also some United States based companies that sell simplified equipment configurations. However, these are meant to be used during the safe harbor hours and the owner maybe forced to register with the FCC. They also are usually encouraged to go through the FCC training. They are required to be aware of the dos and don’t with the radio, even though they are only using amateur radio equipment.
The FCC has been cracking down in some areas where amateur radio equipment has been abused in the broadcasting of pirated radio shows. The strict regulations of the FCC have been viewed with a bit of distaste by many in the radio community. It has also put some extra tension on those that have radio equipment at home.
